The Young Farmers Challenge Fund Program (YFC) is more than just a competition—it is a movement that aims to empower the next generation of agripreneurs. With the average age of Filipino farmers at 57, it is crucial to inspire young minds to take an active role in shaping the future of agriculture.
Recently, I had the honor of representing UF Vanilla Farm of Urban Farms PH at the 3rd National Summit of the YFC Program at the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), Tagaytay. This was a platform to showcase not just my business but my vision for the vanilla industry in Region 12—a vision that goes beyond farming and into direct market linkages, sustainability, and innovation.
Standing before judges and fellow agripreneurs, I pitched my business model, highlighting the potential of vanilla farming as a profitable and sustainable venture. Every moment spent refining my branding and presentation was worth it—because this was more than just a pitch. It was about advocating for agriculture and proving that young farmers can lead the way in modern agribusiness.
As we await the next step—Awarding Day—one thing is certain: this journey is far from over. Win or lose, the passion to elevate Philippine vanilla farming and inspire fellow youth to venture into agriculture remains stronger than ever. /MRA
